This is a Manila (Sense) 2.5 Home Tab modification app.

Requirements:

Manila (Sense) 2.5 on a WVGA or VGA device is required – HVGA is not supported.
While the mod will run on any OS version, the CHT lockscreen that comes with the base cab requires Windows Mobile 6.5 or higher to work. For WM6.1 see the CHT lockscreen alternative addon cab below.
Starting with v1.8.5 .Net 3.5 is also required. You can download it from here.

The mod is not compatible with other larger Manila mods (like MaxManila or MaxSense). Smaller home tab mods (like transparency) and mods that don’t affect the home tab are fine.

Apple politely asked for the device to be brought back to HQ, verifying the authenticity of the prototype and Gizmodo was more than happy to arrange a return of the iPhone 4G, saying that they could contact Jason Chen. The blog writer says this in response to Apple’s request:

After the events, Jason Chen’s home was apparently searched and raided by the police one evening. The police are under the REACT computer crime division of California. They guys in uniforms had a search warrant signed by the San Mateo County Judge. The blogger’s computers and servers were taken by the police despite protests bringing up the Section 1524(g) of the California Penal Code.

The section states that unpublished information in the form of notes, tapes and the like (in this case, soft copies in the computers) cannot be seized by the authorities. Despite that, the police did not halt their operation. They were not even supposed to have started it in the first place due to the lack of “Night Search Approved” authorization. When comparing online you can often find mobile phones with free gifts.

Since Chen got home around 9:45 in the evening and the police were still there, it should be counted as a night search. In any case, Apple sure is employing very rough strategies to show their power.

If “smartphones” are considered state-of-the art in cellphone technologies in 2010, the first ever device of this kind dates back 1994. Having the size and shape of a cellphone, the IBM Simon, distributed by BellSouth, replaces the usual telephone keyboard by a sensitive screen and integrates PIM applications and data communication features.
Let’s get back to 1994 – at that time, manufacturers are struggling to make the “communication devices” market take off. The most common approach was then to bring communication to what was then state of the art in portable technology – PDA devices.
Many products came out at that time : the EO Communicator, 2 Motorola products, the Marco and the Envoy, respectively running the Newton and the MagicCap OS; the Sony Magic Link. Most of those products were discontinued after no more than 2 years.
Most of those products featured large displays, and a notebook oriented usability : they were basically PDAs with integrated (radio-)modems. The Simon showcases a totally different idea of what a communicating device could be : instead of integrating a modem in a PDA, it would integrate a PDA and a modem in a cellphone.
The user interface is pretty clear and apparently pleasant to use. It is a charming exemple of a early 90′s graphic interface. I see it as mac OS 1.0 in a narrow screen : B&W icons, background patterns and round-angles boxes populate the . After some delays it was sold by BellSouth  in 1994 in 190 U.S. cities in 15 states  and was originally priced at $899.

Let’s face it : the Simon didn’t last any longer than it’s competitors. Maybe all of them were ahead of their time, but most likely they were all huge, heavy, and horribly expensive, both on the purchase price side and on the communication service subscription side.

Anyway, as the first actual “SmartPhone” in history, the Simon is a very interesting machine. As it is also quite rare, i’m very proud i own one in my collection.

At CTIA, there was a 7″ tablet spotted running Windows Mobile 6.5.3 by a company called Mangrove. The device is running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz CPU chip, supported by 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM.

According to DigiTimes, HTC is insisting that its works are original and not a copy of Apple’s products, designs, or efforts:

HTC insisted that it designed and developed its user interface, the HTC Sense, in-house, and with the same spirit, it has rolled out a number of innovative smartphones over the past 13 year. HTC launched its HTC Sense touch-enable user interface in June 2009.

HTC also stated it believes that the patent complaint is unlikely to result in a significant impact on its operations in the near team, or affect its business guidance for the first quarter of 2010.

This is currently the best working Android ROM we can get going on the HTC Touch Pro2. It is far from complete, but every day the XDAndroid Devs have breakthroughs which bring us closer to a full working port. Full data is working , including Marketplace, Geo-Locations, and all Sync options. If data is not working fully perhaps check your APN settings (HERE). The USB charger will work, but the battery meter does not function properly, it will almost always show 100%.

michyprima from XDA-Developers managed to port it to WVGA resolution, the HTC HD Mini’s lock screen was spotted in a custom Italian ROM for the HTC HD2, hopefully the user porting it will release it to the public so that it will be available without the need for flashing a custom ROM.

Since the tweet from HTC Russia was released and unconfirmed again, rumors have been spreading all over the web that the Touch HD2 is getting an upgrade from HTC.  But here is Fletcher91 opinion, the HD2 isn’t getting an upgrade at all.

1. The hardware buttons
   The newly announced operating system from Microsoft specified (but not in the chassis specifications) that every WP7 device should sport only three buttons, start, back and Bing (search). Not the 5 which can be found on the HD2.
2. Why give something for free?
   If users want an upgrade, it’s HTC paying for it. Remember when the Touch Diamond was released? Commercials shouting about it having a graphics card, which was true, but HTC thought it was too expensive to buy a driver for it.
3. The bootloader
   After a complete rewrite of the OS, why would the bootloader still be compatible? (If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But the softies won’t make this mistake anymore) Since nobody has held a 7 series device without strict supervision of a Microsoft guard, there’s no way to say, but if it has been rewritten, there still could be the possibility to upgrade the firmware (XDA anyone?)
4. Difficulty
   Not only phone addicts like me would upgrade their device, but regular users would too. Since a phone is quite a complicated device, people are likely to be confused with an all-new interface, which would be quite an overload for the HTC and the carrier support centers.

Applications that were made for Windows Mobile 6 are compatible with Windows Phone 7 Series. The interface of the new mobile operating system has been changed though, so the user interface for these applications will have to be changed as well.

“So there is no reason why programs written for Windows Mobile 6 cannot run on the new version of the OS”, said Maarten Sonneveld of Microsoft Netherlands to Tweakers.net. “The interface is complete different though, so the applications will have to be changed somewhat before being ready for Windows Phone 7 Series”.

It looks like HTC is looking to capitalize on the success they’ve had with the HD2 by making a smaller (and less expensive) version of the device. The Touch HD Mini, while not official just yet, should be unveiled shortly at an HTC press event. While specs are unavailable, we’re thinking it will have a 3.0″ multitouch capacitive display running on Windows Mobile 6.5.3. Also inside may be a less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, and 256MB of RAM.

Unlike other IMDb apps which parse IMDb pages for information, this app uses the iPhone IMDb API to retrieve information from IMDb.com and display it on your Windows Mobile.

The application now directly mimics the iPhone App, so no external server is required – direct connection to app.imdb.com. The source code was ported to C# from the great work done by the guys at imdb-php:
