d0ugie over at www.xda-developers.com found a nice registry tweak to turn your Panoramic photos from the standard (1408 x 480) 0.67mp to (4506×1536) 6.92mp. This registry change seems to work for the HTC Diamond / HTC Touch Pro / HTC Fuze / HTC Touch HD.
So fire up your favorite registry editor (like the one attached) and make the changes or try the cab which may work then reboot the phone, start the camera, switch your way to panorama and, if you’re in the mood, post here advising if it worked or not. If you’re paranoid, write down the original registry settings for those two entries or export the P3 section before you mess with it.
According to berryreview.com (who got the news pics from a tipster) you will soon have the option of running the Blackberry OS as an application on your Windows Mobile device.
This is what RIM is officially calling the BlackBerry Application Suite which we told you about in the past that is posed to replace the aging BlackBerry Connect. Essentially the BlackBerry OS is running as an application on Windows Mobile virtualizing the BlackBerry OS. From what I can tell this will have all of the BlackBerry 4.2 OS features in it.
1.Wait for the tap here to customize.
2.Go through the screen alignment
3 skip or set pass word.
4.When it says your done and tap the screen to start WM get ready to reset
5. The absolute second you touch the screen(use your finger and have your stylus ready by the reset hole) hit the stylus reset. (if you see customization start your too late and must start over)(hard reset by holding volumedown and the button in the center of the scroll wheel while pressing the stylus reset)
6. When your device starts TF3d will NOT be in your today Items
7.Go to today settins and disable everything
8.Use file explorer to go to windows and find PT_Manila_Reg .cab and run it
9.Run MSFT_Security.cab
10.run the Opera cab called WM6_PPC_HTC_Opera9_WWE.cab (only WM6_PPC_HT… shows up in File Explorer) or you won’t have the Opera browser.
You now have no bloat and TF3D!
You must also install the opera cab in windows for the internet tab to work.
We have seen the Touch HD’s TouchFlo3D running on the Xperia X1, and now the happy hackers at XDA-Developers have returned the favour by porting the Xperia’s panels interface to the HTC Touch HD.
The project is still an an early phase, and with no Panels button and a distinct lack of buttons overall, the user can not yet return to the Panels after making a selection. In addition the Panels stop working after a soft reset.
Someone went ahead and replaced Windows Mobile with Android 0.8 on a HTC Touch Diamond. Does that mean we’re going to see Android versions popping up on all sorts of other devices? At least it looks like other HTC devices will be able to run the open source OS. Below you can see the whole thing in action. I’d be curious to see how Android 1.0 will run on the same device… But in the mean time remember not to mess with your smartphone if you don’t know what you are doing. Some jailbreaking might be required which in turn, will ruin your warranty and you might get in trouble with your carrier.
Microsoft should expect some tough competition especially since various cell phone manufacturers have already announced they intend to release Android powered phones in 2009. And they’d better bring out their best in their next Windows Mobile 7.
hTorch is just a FrontEnd programmed as an extension for TorchButton. NetRipper deserves most of the credit because my application uses his TorchButton v1.1 application underneath.
hTorch is built for the HTC Raphael (aka HTC Touch Pro) and has only been tested on this device. PLEASE NOTE: Use this application at your own risk!
Usage:
The program installs itself into “%ProgramFiles%\hTorch” and also creates a shortcut into %StartMenu%\Programs\Accessories. The further usage is as simple as possible. Start hTorch using the shortcut. On program start the LED will automatically be turned on and you will see the programs main screen. On the main screen you can enable and disable the flashlight as needed using the bulb button or exit the application using the exit button. Both buttons are also available as soft key. On Program exit the torch will automatically be turned off.
PLEASE NOTE: The flashlight will by default stay on for a max of 300 seconds to prevent burning the LED. Please also note that the LED can not be left turned on while the device is in standby. So if you want to use the torch for an extended period please make sure to configure your power settings accordingly or to tab the screen from time to time to keep the device awake.
This program requires .NET Compact Framework 3.5 to run. If you are not sure if you have the Framework installed or which version you have installed please follow this instructions
If you have TorchButton installed on your device, you should uninstall it before installing hTorch
Before you start:
Think first about to open the Windows Mobile side like described in HTC forum. There is a good description
“howto” do this within windows Vista.
Before you install:
- enable WLAN und Bluetooth in Vista side (if you can). (not really necessary, but maybe easier later)
- Disable USB Tool (cable in) on Windows Mobile side if you have the “opened” Windows Mobile installed
- remove SD memory Card if inserted
- Insert the HTC USB Hub with integrated Network card
In video above you can see Office Mobile that is a part of Windows Mobile - as an example of Windows Mobile in action. Since Windows Mobile is highly versatile and there are no limits on what Windows Mobile applications can do, one can do practically everything with Windows Mobile - what is exactly contrary to iPhone OS, where Apple is forbidding many applications from running by not allowing them to the App store! On top of that in iPhone the third party applications cannot run in background or more than one at once.
A Norwegian hacker seemed to have accomplished the impossible - finally making the iPhone a useful device. Using the long winters of his native country he managed to hack Windows Mobile, rather unwillingly, onto the iPhone, and, bootcamp like, is giving iPhone users a choice of booting into a more free OS.
