Jay “Saurik” Freeman successfully rooted his own Google Glasses and gives us some of the “real” hardware specs inside: the device is running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, it’s powered by a dual-coreTexas Instruments OMAP4430 processor running at 1GHz with a built-in PowerVR SGX540 GPU and 1GB of RAM (682MB available to the user). The root process was quite simple, according to the author’s information and that’s the first huge step that will bring new customizations and applications.

Also, the Flower Power mobile app has a pre-loaded database of almost 6,000 plants to ensure that you will do the best for your flowers.

Scosche showed some really interesting products in its booth at CES 2013, but the most interesting is their new boomBOTTLE Bluetooth portable speaker, which was developed especially for all bicycle lovers. boomBOTTLE looks just like a standart bottle of water and will perfectly fit into the bottle holder on your bike, and through the Bluetooth connection to your phone or tablet will keep you entertained all the way.

The device is waterproof and has a body with thermoplastic polyurethane construction. The company promised up-to 10 hours of playback with a single battery charge, also the new gadget can be used and as a loud speaker for your phone calls thanks to the built-in microphone. boomBOTTLE has a built-in 3.5-inch audio input to connect any devices without wireless capabilities, like MP3 players.

Kingston announced their latest USB 3.0 flash drive at CES 2013, with the largest capacity we’ve seen so far – 1TB of data storage! It’s called the DataTraveler HyperX Predator 3.0 and it’s also available with a capacity of 512GB.

The speed of data transfer is 240 MB/s in reading and 160 MB/s in writing, and also the flash memory is placed in a special metal box made of zinc.  The expected market price for the 512GB version is $1750 (what a price for a single flash drive!?), so we’re not sure we want to hear how much it will cost with its 1TB of storage…

Tegra 4 was not the only surprise of the NVIDIA’s press conference at CES 2013. The company introduced a new gaming console, currently known as Proejct Shield, which of course is powered by Tegra 4. The new processor allows the device to display 4K resolution picture via the built-in HDMI output and according to the company, the sound quality is a worthy competitor to any device with Beats Audio technology.

NVIDIA Project Shield has a 33Wh battery, which is more than enough for 5 to 10 hours of playing games and 24 hours of watching HD videos. Project Shield has a 5-inch screen with 720p HD resolution, and the storage can be expanded via microSD cards. The console relies on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS without any changes to the interface and comes with pre-loaded applications to access some Google services such as Gmail and Google Play Store. NVIDIA’s Project Shield can be also used and as a PC game controller for computers with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 or higher, in which case is used a wireless connection to all Steam games.

Polaroid is preparing to launch an Android powered digital camera at CES 2013 in early 2013. The information was published by the Imaging Resources and Executive Director of Polaroid, although he has not confirmed anything more than the real existence of the camera.

According to the previously leaked materials, the device has a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, 18MP sensor, built-in WiFi capabilities and will be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Eye-Fi SD cards offers easy transfer of information from the memory card via Wi-Fi connection, but unfortunately are not currently available with more than 8GB of memory, which is certainly very limiting condition for some users.

The company is apparently working on this problem and are now ready with its first card with a capacity of 16GB – Eye-Fi Pro X2 class 10 and of course the standart Eye-Fi services are supported – geotagging and cloud storage.

The new addition to the portfolio will cost $100 and now all users can pre-order directly from Amazon. Eye-Fi Pro X2 will be soon available on the markets in Australia and Japan.
