Android update for HTC Touch Pro2

This is currently the best working version we can get going on the HTC Touch Pro2 (Rhodium). It is far from complete, but every day the XDAndroid Devs have breakthroughs which bring us closer to a full working port. Full data is working (although it shows my ATT as “Cingular” still, and sometimes literally shows my network as “AT&T?”), including Marketplace, Geo-Locations, and all Sync options.
- NEW Mar 08 3D Finally working(ish) Will not show Nexus boot screen, or some other 3D apps that require LOTS of RAM. (Remove cmdline “hw3d.force=1″ from your startup.txt to go back to the old settings and get your splash screen back)
- NEW Mar 08 New system.sqsh from babijoee, includes Home++ (you can still select standard Android Home as default)
- NEW Mar 08 New Startup Utility! (Thanks pieteckhart and DaveShaw, woulda never gotten done otherwise) No more multiple downloads, keyboard selection tool will load

Motorola CLIQ XT first impressions

The device runs MOTOBLUR on top of Android 1.5 and is designed as a slate/tablet form factor for T-Mobile. Specs-wise, it uses a similar processor to the MOTO CLIQ. What’s notable is that Motorola included two back battery covers. There’s a textured rubberized back that feels really good in the hands in classic black as well as a smooth, metallic purple finish for a spunkier day.

Huawei shows off a new Android OS tablet, which is expected to be on the market in May this year and will use Android (version 1.6 according to the menu). The device has a 7 “display + Wi-Fi and 3G modules and you will be able to make calls (so it’s a phone?!), also the device supports HD video and has a very nice interface. This is the only available information at the moment, but this device looks really cool.

In a recent community hack for the Google Nexus One, several customizations were added to the Android 2.1 smartphone. The first of which is custom color notifications for the the trackball, which will add some colors to the notification LED under the handset’s trackball, something that Sidekick owners have enjoyed over the years. You can now have your Nexus One’s trackball glow one color for a missed call and another color to warn you of incoming emails.
Another feature of the hack brings custom animated wallpapers to Nexus One. So far, though, this feature seems more limited in its capacity as the hack only allows the wallpaper’s colors to be customized, but it is a good first start.

For $175, ColorWare will help you make your Nexus One or Barnes & Noble nook e-reader a one of a kind gadget with custom colors of your choice. The treatment process does take three weeks to complete, and hopefully you will choose some “attractive” colors and not make a classy device look like a pool of vomit.
