BlackBerry’s future depends on QNX

RIM’s new president and CEO, Thorsten Heins, has announced, that QNX is going to be at the very core of the company’s strategy for 2012. Both QNX and Playbook OS 2.0 are going to be released soon and both are going to support Android applications, which is going to be a big plus. To be more exact, the update for the Playbook is expected to be released as early as February and the almost mythical BlackBerry OS 10 – in the second half of this year. In the interview, RIM’s new CEO also said, that the company may license their platform for other manufacturers to use, but only if it’s in their interest too, of course. B. A.
